Market Friday goes to a coffee shop and roastery with πŸ‘‰πŸΎ @c0ff33a β˜•οΈ πŸ‘ˆπŸ½

This is my contribution post to #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (πŸ‘ˆπŸ½ That's her, Denise) and posted by me @c0ff33a (πŸ‘ˆπŸ½ That's me β˜•οΈ) and this week I am one day early - which is getting closer. So far I have done, Saturday, Wednesday and now Thursday. Let's face it I have a 1 in 7 chance of getting the right day!

Today I am visiting a very little coffee shop and coffee roastery called The Loom Lounge, local to me in Halifax, UK. They sell coffee and tea, but specialise in selling the coffee beans they roast inside the shops themselves.

IMG_1876.JPG

I like the reclaimed wood decor, and the shop has plenty of coffee related Nic nacs to make it feel cosy

IMG_1878.JPG

The varied old school coffee grinders are amazing, in such a variety of designs and styles as well.

IMG_1877.JPG

Plenty of coffee related goods to buy, including the awesome Hairo V60 drip brewer.

IMG_1879.JPG

Now that is what I call a grinder, whose van is that parked outside I wonder πŸ€”

IMG_1880.JPG

A closer view let's us admire this coffee grinder, coffee beans can be quite hard to grind, especially in bulk - wheel to the left helps make turning the handle easier - there is a special term for this system but I forget - maybe someone knowledgeable can let me know in the comments.

IMG_1882.JPG

To give the shop that traditional feel the displays are embellished with traditional packaging from long ago, some of the brands you will still recognise today.

IMG_1883.JPG

So much to see and enjoy in this very little shop, as we go down this corridor we will eventually find the coffee roaster.

IMG_1884.JPG

And there he is, sat at the end of this passage - the roaster that turns the green coffee brown and ready to drink. If this shops seems to be lacking customers, it is for good reason - I am here to do repairs on the roaster and the owners left me to it while they took care of their much bigger coffee shop nearby.

IMG_1868.JPG

I'm here to replace this inspection lamp, when we roast coffee we do it partly by colour of the bean - for each coffee we roast the aim is to reach the same colour level of the bean. This lamp ensures the light we view the coffee using the sampling device that can pull the beans from inside the roaster to look at - is always the same. It helps us gain greater consistency in coffee roasting. Unfortunately two weeks ago my customer moved the lamp using the flexible arm to a different position - it is designed to do that but this time when he moved it there was a bang πŸ’₯ and all the power went off in the shop. The wires powering the lamp must have shorted inside - a manufacturing fault maybe. I quickly came down and disconnected the power cables for the lamp so he could still use the roaster, and ordered a replacement lamp from the Turkish manufacturer. Now I am here to fit that replacement.

IMG_1872.JPG

Removing the old lamp requires disconnecting the power cable and pulling it back through it's guiding sheath. 4 Bolts mount it in place on the curved drum, removing them is easy, re-threading them into the holes they came from when the new lamp base is fitted not so much.

IMG_1869.JPG

The orange power cable needs threading into the black tube with the silver temperature probe cable - not easy as the tube is only just wide enough to fit them both in.

IMG_1870.JPG

Then I need to thread the power cable into the control fuse box, and wire it into the correct points in the fuse system. I remember a handy guide an electrician once told me - red to red, brown to brown, blue to bits πŸ’₯

IMG_1873.JPG

The Turkish Manufacturers have done me no favours with this job, the lamp was frustrating to to screw back onto the body because of the curved design of the drum - no matter how many times I tried one bolt always never hit it's thread hole. Fitting the power cable down the guide tube that carries it around the edge of the drum was painfully slow and frustrating. Now in the fuse box - the cables connect at the very bottom of the fuse cluster, it's dark and hard to see where you connect them, the front control panel is tethered to the machine and get's in the way. It's a good job this shop was empty, because the wires are not the only thing being blue at this point. 😑

IMG_1875.JPG

After many choice words were uttered, I make the correct connections, tidy the cables and refit the control panel with it's 12 retaining bolts. Power it up and success - we have light and hopefully this new lamp will be more reliable. I hope you all enjoyed my little Market Friday journey, maybe next time I will take you around his big coffee shop instead!

But wait, there is more, it's Thursday and isn't that #haturday instigated by the lovely @saffisara ?

IMG_1892.JPG

I almost forgot I had this hat, but last week for his #haturday @enginewitty reminded me of it when he had on something similar. And it's a rollover, I can even sneak in a #treetuesday by @old-guy-photos - ok it's not Tuesday but Paul always says to me the rules of these tags....they are just guidelines.

Today though I also bring great news for you my followers, supporters and friends. Because my greatest inspiration on Steemit, a member so dedicated to the growth of this platform and indeed all of you - that he delegated many users like myself with Steem Power so we could upvote you with greater value to help you grow. @fulltimegeek outlined in this recent post Steem Quest 1 that he is now out to banquish from this platform we love the trolls that would drain it's reward pool and take away what you deserve in rewards for your hard created posts. To do this he has pulled back his mighty Steem Power from all the #stewardsofgondor he bestowed it upon to give himself the strength to fight this battle. I have been preparing for this for a long time, investing my earnings in delegated Steem Power to keep my upvote power high, but for the next few days to bring it to full ability I must recharge from the 40% upvote I have been level on since last November to 100%. To do this I must reduce my upvote of you my friends to tiny percentages to allow the re-charge. This will benefit us in the long term, when I return to 100% I will have the same upvote valve as I did before that Steem Power delegation was revoked. But also I wish you to remember the upvote I was able to support you all with, the extra value your posts received when I upvoted - is all thanks to the great man @fulltimegeek and I ask you now to follow and support this fine Bastian of Steemit, if he posts do your best to upvote and resteem him - if you believe in this platform, in receiving just rewards for the work you put into your posts this man will redress the balance and oust those that would line their own pockets at the cost of others. Anything we can do to support him will help, this is a battle if giants and it may be he can not alone win - we are all tiny around him but together we are many - a group of like minded people who wish to just post our blogs and get our rewards for the effort. Join with me, support @fulltimegeek in his battle and be prepared to do whatever you can to make this place better for all of us.

Spread the message my friends, far and wide on every discord and group you mix in. Follow and support @fulltimegeek he is our saviour in our greatest hour of need. Stand united and support the many charitable accounts like @youarehope and indeed the goods works of my friend @crisangel whose incredible work with school children post giving them hope and much needed educational supplies was downvoted for no good reason.

United we will overcome, I believe in all of you - now is the time for you to show what you stand for.
