Cultivating a Creative Community in New York
We ( @hansikhouse and @voronoi ) started The Creative Blockchain NYC Meetup group in early July as we were preparing for our STEEM Park project. We wanted to create a more social environment where newcomers can not only learn about Steemit and the technicalities of joining, but also have an outlet to specifically interact with other creative professionals and organizations.
Now that we’re running @sndbox, we intend to integrate Meetups to be the socially creative foundation for our incubator. As always, our main mission is to integrate Steemit productively into existing and emerging professional practices. The Meetup and in-person events helps us build trust with those who are new to and still unsure of the technologies that could revolutionize their fields.
Major Questions
Since most of the attendees and overall members of the group are not experienced Steemit users or have yet to even sign up for an account, part of our presentation was dedicated to concisely explaining how Steemit, it’s social economy, and the rewards pool works.
But we also found that since the presentation was intertwined with Sndbox’s development and topics specifically regarding professional practice, we were able to dive into deep discussion of how practitioners could leverage this community and technology. As such, we believe many of the questions are useful for the community to consider -
- How do I use Steemit as a primary social-media and engagement device?
- How can I structure and document my work with my account?
- How can I establish long-term projects within the community?
- What do I get out of Steemit that is valuable to my day-to-day profession?
@prufarchy does a great job breaking down some of the main talking points on his post here.
Collaborative Documentation
Pictures speak louder than words so here’s a few snapshots by @mintvilla and a fun video by @prufarchy to eternalize our first presentation! Also a big thank you for @andrarchy answering technical questions and promoting Steemit!

We Want Your Ideas
There will be many more productive and social events to come and we want to open it up to the Steemit community to both attend and offer ideas of bases to cover. What do you think will be most helpful for new users? How should creative and entrepreneurial professionals approach the platform? What do you think of this form of event?
Let us know in the comments below and be sure to resteem to grab the input of your Steemit colleagues!
