We all want to truly feel part of a community. It is at the very core of our existence as human beings on this planet, the need to feel like we are part of something greater than our own individual selves.
This week marks my eighth week on Steemit. Over the past two months, I've been so blessed to experience a steady growth to where I am today, with 414 followers, a reputation of 57, and an account that is valued at over $600. With all of my success, I fully acknowledge that I would not have gotten to where I am today on this amazing platform had I not been shown by @gmuxx to the phenomenal community known as the @MinnowSupport Project, way back in my first week on Steemit.
The Minnow Support Project is where I made my first friends on this platform, @aymen.mazhar, @jrswab, @kristyyd, @paps, @ma1neevent, @poeticsnake, and @discordiant. An added bonus and interesting surprise was to find out that @discordiant actually also lives in Utah, not too far from where I live. MSP is where I started to grow my network of loyal followers on here who constantly checked up on me to see if I had a new post published for the day, who came to my posts and showered me with love and genuine support, and who told me to directly send to them any new post I had published.
What drew me to Steemit was the promise of making money for the things that I post, but what truly convinced me to stay, even when some posts that I had poured my heart and soul into and took hours to craft only generated cents, was the people I met through the @MinnowSupport Project and the true sense of community that I found through that network.
Because of my belief in how essential MSP is for true success on Steemit, I've even gone on personal little "recruitment drives" for the Minnow Support Project on #introduceyourself posts in the past to try to help other new users experience the same kind of success that I've been blessed to experience since being a member of MSP. This was done of my own volition, with no one asking me to do anything like that. I just did it because I wanted others on Steemit to have the same pathway to success.
I have since then invited several friends of mine to Steemit, and of course I showed them to MSP as well, and they are all loving it in there as much as I am loving it. Two of them have even had their first post ever "blow up" and generate about $20! While earnings like that are definitely not to be expected all the time, I believe it's an important experience to be lucky enough to have during one's first week on the platform, because it shows the true potential for earning money on Steemit, if you can commit to the hard work (because it is hard) of networking and making friends to build your personal audience on here. You can check out their #introduceyourself posts here and here.
And the @MinnowSupport Project is the perfect place to start making those friends and building that audience! This past week I've been hanging out in the "shallow end" of our Discord server, which is the welcoming room that new members of MSP get funneled into, and I've been saying hi to people and helping them get registered as full members of MSP, even going as far as sending them what they need to get the registration completed.
It should have come as no surprise, then, when @juliakponsford sent me a message and asked if I would like to officially take on a Greeter role for the @MinnowSupport Project. Needless to say, I was honored to have been chosen for such an important duty, helping new users feel as welcome at MSP as I had been made to feel when I first came into the community. I accepted without a moment's hesitation, and I found out that my friend @staceyjean, who I invited to Steemit and MSP, had also been chosen as a Greeter! I was ecstatic.
It has been such a pleasure being a part of the Minnow Support Project these past two months that I've been on Steemit, and feeling like I am part of something bigger than me, that aims to help all new users to the platform achieve true success here. This is my pledge as an official Greeter for MSP that I will do my best to ensure that everyone who joins our amazing community will feel as welcome and supported as I have felt since I joined. It has been a great ride so far, and I am looking forward to riding this new wave in my official capacity as a Greeter.
If you haven't joined the Minnow Support Project and are new to Steemit, or have been struggling to make real progress since you've joined, I hope to see you over there sometime! I promise you will not regret your decision to be a part of our community.
Lastly, I just wanted to say thank you to @aggroed for providing us with such an amazing place to truly grow and thrive within the Steemit community, and for having such a grand vision of the place and how to help new users achieve their dreams on here. Thank you as well to all the moderators who had a hand in selecting me as a candidate to become an official Greeter for MSP. I hope I live up to your expectations!
