@taskmaster4450 has suggested a #minnowuprising for the month of July. The general idea is that minnows (and plankton/redfish) should be very active on the Steem blockchain during July, posting 2-4 times a day, commenting on each other’s posts, and upvoting each other and themselves. #minnowuprising starts tomorrow. I’m no longer a minnow, having morphed into a dolphin four months ago, but I’m planning on joining in with the #minnowuprising anyway. In terms of stake, I’m a (smallish) dolphin now that I have over 10,000,000 Vests, but because I have done a bunch of outgoing delegations my effective Voting Power is that of a mid-sized minnow.
The general outline of my plan is that for the month of July all of my manual upvotes will be for minnows and the smaller plankton/redfish accounts. I will not be upvoting dolphins or higher during the #minnowuprising so some that I manually upvote on a semi-regular basis (@taskmaster4450, @whatsup, @mattclarke, and others, you know who you are) won’t be getting upvotes from me during July. Sorry guys, you’ll survive. And I’ll probably be upvoting larger minnows (2000+ SP) only sporadically. Apologies there too. Meh, when Steem moons, you won’t give a damn.
I’m going to try to be an active voter, spreading my upvotes around, and voting much more frequently than 10 times a day so a lot of my votes will be at 10% to maybe 30% VP so as to not blow through my Voting Power too fast.
Also, to keep my VP as strong as possible for the month of July, I will not be upvoting any of my own posts.
A Few Caveats: I will give out relatively few 100% votes during the month but one exception will be @fullcoverbetting who I “adopted” through the 1KSP Initiative after @eaglespirit (my earlier “adoptee”) graduated from it. And sporadic non-manual upvotes will still happen. Last October I signed up for the @buildawhale “PreVote Club” in large part because I didn’t want my Voting Power to ever hit 100%. But these votes rarely happen until my VP drifts above 90%. I’d guess that my VP will probably drift around in the 80-90% range for much of the month. Also, I will be doing manual upvotes for two accounts that I’m semi-committed to voting for, @silvergoldbotty and @steembasicincome
I’d encourage minnows to use the #minnowuprising tag and I’ll also be monitoring the #upvoteplankton tag.
