This is Steemit Monthly Author Challenge Day 11 post.
It has been one and a half year since i back to my hometown last time. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you "A City a story" by @aaronli about Kuching, capital of Sarawak and the most populous city in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia.
China town
This is the statue of Kucing (meaning cat) and it dress according to seasons like Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and so on! I do not know why it dress like an army this time.
There are a few places with cat statues.
This is near the Sarawak river and Sarawak Plaza.
The highlight of this post is the new Golden Bridge at Waterfront Kuching. It is the only pedestrian bridge crossing the Sarawak river in the city at the moment. I think this is really a Place to Remember and i want to join the 1001 Places to Remember project launched by @archisteem with the support from the co-founders @kimzwarch, @cklaiand @funtraveller.
I did not know about this bridge until i went back few days ago. The bridge just opened on 11 November last year. I found this awesome youtube video on Darul Hana Bridge Kuching, Sarawak Grand opening with Fireworks Show.
This New Golden Bridge connect the Kuching Waterfront to the Astana and new DUN Building. A picture with my mom and dad before my mom admitted to hospital the next day due to low hemoglobin.
When i finished form 3 (secondary school) i was lucky to enter a boarding school at Petra Jaya which is at the other side of the Sarawak River. There is highway to Petra Jaya and it takes about 1 hour. During weekend if we want to go to the city we will take a sampan to waterfront. It cost around 30 to 50 cents per trip. Now with the Golden bridge i think the boatman will lose their job already. It was unforgettable memory and nice experience.

If you have chance to visit Kuching City, this is a must go place. The view is awesome and you can walk across the bridge to visit the Astana. I didn't cross over the bridge as my mom did not feel well. I will sure pay another visit with my kids next time.
