Chendering (Malaysian jazz song) with Roby Lakatos, Denis Chang, Az Samad and Zulhilmy Zulkifli

One of the things that makes me excited is to introduce the music from Malaysia to international musicians who I get to collaborate with!

Recently, I performed with the amazing Roby Lakatos, who has been referred to as "The fastest-fingered fiddler in the world" by The Telegraph and is from legendary family of gypsy violinists descended from Janos Bihari, “King of Gypsy Violinists”.

Chendering is one of my favourite compositions from Malaysian jazz pianist, Jimmy Boyle. Introducing the piece to Roby and seeing him study it and then perform it twice with him (once at Kuala Lumpur's premier jazz club, No Black Tie and then at the Borneo Jazz Festival 2018) was an amazing experience.

I am extremely honoured and grateful for this musical experience. Thank you to Evelyn Hii of No Black Tie & Borneo Jazz Festival for hosting this beautiful musical collaboration. It was great to perform with Canadian gypsy jazz guitarist Denis Chang and Malaysian bassist Zulhilmy Zulkifli as well.

Thanks to Yin for this video! Hope you enjoy it. :)
