The X-Files is probably one of the most emotionally engraved tv shows known to men, if you were a kid in the 90's you will understand why, that this actual intro song is responsible for making people not sleep at night, making it most talkable and infamous subject among your school friends, it also made people more prone to being skeptical about the government and the monetary system and the idea that we are not alone, or even better, are run by the aliens.
It ran for a full decade, 9 seasons of intriguing and carefully made plot, dosed just right with the story line episodes building suspension to the limit, and then covering the plot with the individual monster and abomination episodes. X Files was created by Chris Carter and was actually based on the 70's show called "Kolchak: The Night Stalker", one of the reasons for Carter raising it's interest into creating this show is the fact that by then 3.7 million people in the world claimed to be abducted by aliens. This song was composed specifically for the show by Mark Snow and he claimed that the Smith's "How Soon Is Now" was his inspiration

I was hyped about this week theme and went of for a search online to see what would be a good idea to recreate for the contest, when I've reached conclusion that X Files has actually pretty awesome sample in itself I just went for it, and liked the result, it took me on the Trip Hop side of beats with a pinch of Psymbient. Like always for me improvisation is a Mother of music and I let myself go on this one too, and then gave in to post production the day later, if only a bit more time was on the hand but I am happy nevertheless.
I started the track by slicing the X Files theme and gradually introducing it in the first part of the song, I made my bass that is consistent throughout the track with the Native Instruments Massive softsynth, got it to be a bit dirty to improve the contrast against the sample, soon after whilst improvising I introduced a beautiful Mu'addhin vocals sung in the Mecca during the Hajj, it just fitted to me so I left it and with such pleasure, I love when Mu'addhin's sings and have an enormous respect to the contribution they give for the Muslim faith.
After that I felt a need to change a complete scene, I did that by introducing some orchestra as a main part on the middle break and I did so with the Spitfire's Masse coupled that with a cool arpeggio sequence that came from my Waldorf Blofeld synth, I increased the pressure with some more Massive dirty leads and again with some GFunk moments before the second break. After that I decided to let the second part be a full variation on X Files theme and mixed the rest of the samples, this late introduction I felt gave more meaning to it instead of just running it through the whole track.
For the ones that are from my generation there is a hidden track in the end of this song those who know, know :)
