Towns along the path of totality are hosting Eclipse Parties. I know one in Oregon is having a three day event!

On Monday, Aug. 21, the moon will slip between the Earth and Sun causing a 70-mile-wide shadow that will “turn daylight into twilight" and cause the temperature drop rapidly.

The coast-to-coast “Great American Eclipse" is the first of its kind seen in 99 years and is being called “the event of the century.”

Parts of Africa, Europe and South America will be able to see the eclipse, along with those in the path in the United States. The last time a total eclipse graced viewers in the United States was Feb. 26, 1979, and it was in a limited geographic area.

The solar eclipse will arc along a 3,000-mile path from the Oregon Pacific coast to the shore of South Carolina. The “path of totality” includes Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Those in the path of totality will witness the moon completely blocking the sun. Viewers outside of the path will only see a partial eclipse.
Handy Driving Time Guide:
