One photo every day: I'm stupid. (194/365) + musings about Miro and figure skating

Oh my...

Okay, we went out to buy Leo some new skis, and when we came back I noticed this:

Sheesh! They are both the same size!!!

The new pair (Peltonen) was exactly the same length than Leo's original Karhu skis next to them.

How on earth did I mess this up?

Well, good thing is the sales clerk told us the skis shouldn't be any longer than 160 cm for Leo, so I can just return these new skis and use that money to buy Miro a new pair. He at least needs longer skis. I might as well buy Leo some skates while we are at it.

Talking about skates, could you guys believe Miro (our regular tough guy) doesn't want hockey skates, but figure skates! Wherever I am going to get figure skates for him? They only sell girls' figure skates here.

Furthermore, all the boys' figure skates are black. And that color just won't do with our boy, he wants skates coloured like these:

I know I know, it's an expensive hobby. @MarkkuJantunen's daughter Milla used to figure skate, and Markku told me it was a helluva expensive hobby for sure. That kind of scares me... Though, I'd only want the best for my son, and if he wants to figure skate, maybe he should.

I am not sure how to introduce him to that hobby, how to finance it, and all. Maybe I should let him figure out skating with normal hockey skates first and only then ask him if he was still interested in figure skating. (Or could that negatively affect his learning?)

Miro's kind of always been interested in figure skating, at least as long since he first learned the term "figure skating" when he was 3 years old. I still remember it, he asked me what the people on television were doing, and I told him "se on taitoluistelua" ("it's figure skating", "taito" means "skill" in Finnish, but we also call it "kaunoluistelu", "kauno" means "beautiful"), he thought for a moment, then said: "Minä haluan kanssa taitomuistella!", "muistelu" means "to reminisce", which would roughly translate to "I also want to skill reminisce!".

Yep. He really wants to figure skate... a couple weeks ago we were waiting Leo (from his piano lessons) at the Lahti market square, and Miro ogled at the people in the skating rink. A boy who was skating with figure skates caught his attention, and he decided he wanted skates like that. I still think it's kind of interesting, as all the boys his age here want to play hockey.

Anyway, I'm off to eat, can you guys converse about this while I eat a hamburger? :)
