1-man band is back! Steemit Open Mic Week 87 - Burning the Candle (Original) - naTHAN Kaye

The one-man smart-arse festival is back after a long hiatus!

6 Weeks! Gosh! I have to confess that it felt so nice to shoot an Open Mic entry again after so long...
I hope I didn't leave it so long that the momentum completely died for you lovelies..!
Well, even if it did I hope to win your love and respect back again here.

So why the big long gap?

There were so many obstacles that kept occurring whenever I went to shoot an open mic, that initially, I thought, "well, that's ok, a bit of space is fine," but then different issues (When I say issues, I mean, SD cards went missing mysteriously, got sick with a flu, got a back injury, just not having enough time with kids and other obligations, etc) would arise each time and I started to think, maybe I'm being blocked for a reason.
You know, maybe I've had my turn, so to speak, and I should step aside, like the universe was saying, "dude, just stop (at least for a while)."
But no way! I love this community too much and I love sharing music far far too much!
So you're just gonna have to deal with me and my energy and my mission here on this Earth.
(You're cool with that though, right?)

Shut up Nathan and just get on with it already!
So hear it is!!!!

Burning The Candle

As with all my one-man band performances, all the instruments you hear are being played live simultaneously!

There are no loops.

(Not that I've got anything against looping)

There are no pre-recorded backing tracks.

(No comments... Nor judgement)

Just me playing:

  1. Acoustic & Electric Lapsteel Slide guitar,
  2. Slide-Didge (modern trombone-like didgeridoo),
  3. Self-made Electronic Foot drums,
  4. Beatbox,
  5. Ball-tearing Diaphragmic Vocal Power (just look how far the vocal mic is FFS!!)

AT THE SAME TIME!

(Audio in the last 40 seconds or so is straight off the camera as memory ran out)

All of the instruments in this performance are tuned into A 432Hz.
This is something that @globocop is passionately promulgating through his awesome radio show on MSP Waves, called Frequency Waves 432Hz.

LYRICS

I believe in Love,
I believe in change,
I believe that God above is within,
And I believe nothing stays the same.

We're in the same boat,
We've gotta keep this thing afloat,
We've been burning the candle at both ends,
You know that one and one is two,
There's really something we can do,
We don't have to be going down in the end.

I have been down and out,
I have been the king,
I have been full of doubt,
And I have been sure of everything.

We're in the same boat,
We've gotta keep this thing afloat,
We've been burning the candle at both ends,
You know that one and one is two,
There's really something we can do,
We don't have to be going down in the end.

I abide in silence....
But never in apathy,
I don't believe in violence,
But I will fight, I will fight to be free.

We're in the same boat,
We've gotta keep this thing afloat,
We've been burning the candle at both ends,
You know that one and one is two,
There's really something we can do,
We don't have to be going down in the end.

The following is not some sort of sycophantic hyperbole, because it comes directly from the heart:

I must give deep thanks to @luzcypher for creating and maintaining this awesome Open Mic Community.

Deep gratitude to @pfunk for being the patron that has generously and consistently donated Steem to keep Open Mic going.

Deep thankfulness to the judges @meno, @verbal-d @krystle, @passion-ground, @soundlegion that dedicate so much time to sift through hours of videos to help adjudicate this contest.

With an Aboriginal step-father, Nathan grew up listening to traditional indigenous music and Nathan is renowned for being the world’s first didgeridoo beatboxer. Since innovating the style in the 90’s, didge players around the world are slowly taking on the modern fusion he established.
He tours the world playing at festivals and venues around the globe with his energetic, unique one-man band extravaganza!
