I Once Went to a Seollal in a Korean Cultural Center...

In 2014, I went with a friend to the Korean Cultural Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It was my first time to go to such an event so I wasn't sure what to expect.

I'm posting this because yesterday I saw a post by @kawaiipower and some of her amazing Japanese doll collection. And then I remembered I have some pics of Korean dolls too! I haven't shared it with anyone outside of Facebook so here I'll show you some of the event pics. By the way, faces in the pics are gonna be blurred for privacy. :D

Let's start!

Seollal is the Korean New Year equivalent of the Lunar or Chinese New Year. Since Korean Dramas (KDramas) are popular here we decided to see what the buzz about the event was and also to know more about the place.

Upon entering, we were greeted by cardboard Korean idols. Hello hello! I don't even know them but my friend had her pics taken with them. Lol. (The one on the right is inside and not at the lobby)

Below is my pic with a guy from a KDrama. I liked him in You're Beautiful starring Jang Geun Suk and a female actress. If there was a Jang Geun Suk cardboard pic I'd have a photo op with it but there were none so say hello to one of my Korean boyfriends, rocker Jung Yong Hwa. Hahahaha!

Anyway if you see what's sticking on the cardboard personalities you'll know what the event was about. We didn't go to the introductory talk or anything but the traditional Korean games was going on in one room and some other talk in another room. We actually got there just in time for the photo booth to wear traditional Korean clothes. :) Yay!

There was a cut off for people who could join and we were almost not able to have hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) fitting and "photo shoot." Good thing I am a persistent person. Lol. I said we should stay there and hang around after we expressed our interest to still join even after the cut off, if it was still possible.

Well surprise, surprise, a few minutes later we got in because they said we were nicer than the rest who asked before us who were all getting angry and all that. I just love it when things like this happen. Persistence and kindness is the key my dear friends. Lol. There was a line to have our pictures taken so we just had to wait in a room first.

Guys and gals all had a chance to wear traditional Korean clothes. :)

Here we are finally wearing the hanbok over our own clothes, inside the waiting room.

And this is the backdrop for the photo booth shoot that everyone had. :)

seollal12.jpg

And no, no photo booth pics for you fam. Hehe.

After we had our pics and we took off the hanbok, we went around the place. There were a lot of people, of course mostly KDrama fans.

There were also free snacks for everyone and because we didn't get there early we only had a few of the snacks but we still had to get in line.

Framed paintings and pictures hung on hallway walls. While in line I took pics of one of the walls. This one showcases the different KDramas that were shown on different TV channels.

After getting the food we settled in the room and tasted them.

Not sure what it was anymore but I didn't like this colored food. It's out of focus because hey my smartphone wasn't smart enough. And no those drinks in the background aren't ours, we had our own. Haha.

Oh and we saw these two people who were nice and the one on the right is the person who let us have the hanbok fitting. Yay! We were so thankful to her. If not for her we wouldn't have had the experience of wearing some traditional Korean clothes. No need to go to Korea anymore right? Lol.

What's inside the Korean Cultural Center (KCC)

There are more pics but I don't want to bombard you with everything so I have selected the following to show you the things inside KCC then.

Aside from it being a place to learn the Korean language and culture, it was like a mini museum of sorts too.

Here's some of the dolls and Korean instruments hanging on the wall.

These are some of the bigger Korean instruments on display.

And then there's some traditional porcelain pottery.

Plus hanboks on display!

There's also some traditional masks hanging on a display wall.

There's also this door, this room is not where we had the photo booth pics taken. I dunno what this room is for but it had some lovely wallpaper in it as well. Lol.

seollal20.jpg

And last but not least... we finally get to these cute Korean dolls wearing hanbok!

solleal10.jpg

Don't these look sweet and adorable? :D

And that ends the tour inside KCC.

Have you also experienced Seollal? Let me know in the comments! :D

XOXO,
