Freedom's side of the fence has a hatchet lock
tree breaker slipped through two steel knots
unremarkable. It looks shoddy and spent
scarcely enough to protect Freedom you'd say
but you'd be wrong. Looks deceive, the lock stays,
and Freedom dreams in the smug comfort of safety
his home a many-level high rise with gleaming glass
strong enough no stones can shatter those panes
no throw can reach through the barbed wire
no man can reset his claim, upset his dominion.
Freedom rests on the backs of the weary and he
is now in the tower he calls his own asleep.
