One of our problems is lighting.
The goal of Glowee is to provide us a new source of light & change the way we use it.

What is it

All its business is based on a bioluminescent bacterium A. fischery & E. coli.
Glowee doesn't produce ready-to-use product but rather a biological raw material that produces light (blue-green)
It's supposed that their main markets will be street signs & shop fronts but almost any other industry can also integrate this solution into their products

Some Pros

  • can grow endlessly
  • (possible) environmental benefits

15% of global electricity consumption is used for lighting, representing 1,7billion tonnes of CO2 every year
source

  • is flexible (can take dif shapes to fit with dif needs)

IMHO

Cool, but we need some energy to produce nutrients & to remove waste products & the time of glow (without continuous supply of nutrients) is limited now (≈1 month, acc to some sources)
