So,
The following happened,
I was psyched when I seen @girlbeforemirror's post about
a turtle claying contest.
Yes! you have read that correctly, a turtle claying contest!
click here to see her entry
It made me very curious so
I decided to explore...
I learned about this neat contest organised by @josejirafa
in honour of his turtle Aristurtle
that had died 2 years ago

I kind of knew I had to take part somehow..
I had bought this cute little turtle guy
on a market in Hungary a few years ago,
and figured it would not be to hard
to make one myself somehow..?
And then I got challenged by @girlbeforemirror :
:D
And I knew I had to give it my best go,
I googled a quick recipe for
home made play-dough
and came up with this:
flour, salt, oil, (coloured) water
I broke a felt tip to colour the water:
Yes, my hands will be green for the longest time :D
But I have some manageable dough :
As I am peacefully kneading away...
trying to figure out what my turtle
should look like,
I remember our holiday to
the island of Sal, Cabo Verde
this last November,
Loggerhead turtles come here every year to lay their eggs
(you can check out more about that here if you are interested)
So, we visited a conservation project and hatchery,
SO many eggs:
And even got lucky on a night excursion
where we watched the turtles come to land and lay their eggs :
(picture taken with night vision,
flash not allowed)
This was a dream come true, what an amazing thing to experience!
This leaves me with enough inspiration for finishing my turtle :
...
Tadaaaaaa :
Not bad huh?
I love how my Friday night took an unexpected turn of creativity
