The Elders did not speak to outsiders, not unless they had been plied with drink.

It made the extraction of information difficult, time consuming, and yes a little dangerous. After all if you were talking, you were talking on their terms, on their turf.

All it would take is one wrong word, mixed with a particularly aggressive strain of whiskey, and they would show you just how well versed they were in the "ways of old".

But if you gained their trust, did your time, brought them something nostalgic, like wine, the things they would tell you...

The major religions all like to pretend that the great conflict of our time (any given time really) is light vs dark. That is only half true. The great drama of existence is in fact between The Light, and The Sea. So they say, and I am starting to believe them.

The great Stars, they hope to consume The Sea, and all her children. I believe we call them Supernovae.

You probably think that humans are good, that we're here to protect the Light with our electricity, and our nuclear fusion, but ask yourself this:

Is it light that courses through your veins, or is it water and salt?
