Steem News has reached its 500th edition.
And it is now available in five languages.

1. 500th Edition of Steem News
Steem News began its life as SOS Daily News way back on 3 December 2018...
The Steem community was in 'panic mode' at the time after Steemit Inc had been forced to make the large majority of their staff redundant due to financial problems.
The daily news service was established alongside the State of Steem (SOS) Forums @pennsif set up to bring the community together to find positive ways to help the platform move forward.
The forums went out live on MSP Waves and attracted many hundreds of active participants...
The first forum had 19 guest speakers and was nearly five hours long...
SOS Daily News rebranded to The Steem News in 10 in April 2019 and then to its current Steem News name in October 2019.
Steem News was particularly active around the time of the Steem / Hive split...
There have been a few stops and starts along the way but it is great to have reached edition 500.
2. Steem News in Five Languages
As well as the core English version, Steem News now goes out in four other languages.
A Spanish version is produced by @inspiracion...
An Indonesian version by @sofian88...
A Bangla version by @msharif...
And an Urdu version by @ashkhan...

3. Community Curators for June - 2 Days Left
Steemit is inviting applications from anyone who would like to become a Community Curator for June.
Applications are invited from individuals rather than teams, and again there will be no specific themes for the individual teams.
Competition for Curators places will be tougher for June as Steemit has moved to smaller teams with only four members each.
The closing date for applications is 11:59 pm UTC, on Monday 22 May 2023...
There have been over 40 applications so far...
4. STEEM Burns
@remlaps continues to track the impact of Steemit's burnsteem25 campaign encouraging people to set a 25% beneficiary to @null to reduce the amount of STEEM, which potentially will increase its value.
In the past week there were 4,045 SP in burned beneficiary rewards and there were 1,145 burnsteem25 posts.
The total burnt since June 2022 has now reached 173K SP, 115K STEEM, and 1,146 SBD...
5. AVLE Update
Witness developer @etainclub has posted further updates on the progress of his new AVLE Steem Store...
6. SteemWatcher Portal
@steemwatcher.com has posted another update of the statistics for the SteemWatcher Portal that manages and monitors the abuse cases from the Steem Detectives...
7. Instagram Marketing @solosteemit
Steem Rep @franyeligonzalez has posted a 4th weekly progress report on the Instagram marketing program she is running with fellow Rep @josevas217.
They are promoting Steem through the @solosteemit Instagram account...
8. Contests on Steem
@disconnect continues to publish his comprehensive daily list of current contests on Steem.
There are 90 contests in the latest list with over 800 STEEM in prizes...
