How to help a friend join Steemit: a checklist

I'm planning to invite some non-cryptocurrency-enlightened friends to Steemit and I'd like to help them with a smoother onboarding. From my experience I can say that the entry barrier to Steemit is still rather high. So I've got an idea of making a checklist with the most important things to do and I'd like to ask you to add more to it.

What I've got so far:

  • Explain that joining Steemit means a commitment to invest time and effort. I liked someone's analogy with a snowball: it starts small and if you add up work, it grows big.
  • Help to sign up (and explain the SP delegation thing).
  • Explain the difference between Steem currency, Steem blockchain and Steem-based projects like Steemit, ChainBB and others.
  • Ask about the interests my friend has and help choosing the right people to follow.
  • Explain how to write and promote a really good self-introduction post and prepare some good photos. When I see trending posts under this tag I start thinking that I should make a reintroduction :)
  • Explain the point about the three currencies – STEEM, SBD and Steem Power.
  • Help understanding the money making possibilities on Steemit: posts, curation, Steemgigs, Beta testing, wikification
  • Explain the curation rewards and voting rules (Facebook experience is rather misleading here).
  • Tell the story about minnows, dolphins and whales.
  • Invite to Steemit Chat.
  • Tell about help projects such as Minnow support project, Steemtrail, Whaleshares
  • Help creating an account on crypto exchange and converting some STEEM to BTC.
  • Point to people, places and projects where to get further help (thanks @sykochica! :)

The list is open, feel free to add more suggestions! Resteem to help me reach more people and collect more ideas!
