This post is the first in a series of posts in which I intend to immerse myself into the reward structure algorithm and do my best to impart whatever knowledge I pick up along the way to the Steemit community, particularly those who are new to Steemit and like myself, are curious about how rewards are calculated.
At first, the reward structure was a bit of a puzzle to me but I decided to invest some time into understanding every aspect of the algorithm that calculates post rewards. I’m making progress towards having a good understanding but I still have a bit to go. I’ve read a number of excellent posts on this subject - I would highly recommend the series by @theoretical:
In this series, I will try to provide concrete examples to illustrate the mechanics behind the algorithm, as I find examples bring complex problems to life and enable better understanding.
For this first post I wanted to do something that I’ve been thinking about since day 1 on this platform... to see who contributed what for my most rewarding post, my introduction post. My portion (Author) of the reward for this post was 70.3.
In this post I will answer the questions:
1. Who contributed the most?
2. How skewed is the reward distribution across voters?
The table below shows my reward split by voter. As you can see, the distribution is highly skewed with 36% of the reward coming from one vote (many thanks @glitterfart). In this series , I will flesh out the calculation of the the vote share and reward share that is allocated to a vote. I wanted to start off with something interesting but not too heavy on the technical content.

The biggest contributors to the daily reward fund
This is really interesting! On SteemDB.com, you can see the top contributors to the total reward pool each day. You will see that for 5th June 2017, over 68% of the total rewards allocated were from 100 user accounts. Votes by @pharesim accounted for over 4% of the total rewards allocated for the day. Over 10% of the total rewards allocated came from 4 accounts:
