A World of Abundance: More Money or More Gratitude?

dates.jpeg

This may sound exaggerated but I truly think that Steemit could be changing the way we view everything ... From a world of scarcity to a world of abundance. It started a while back when the blockchain technology took off and changed the way people viewed money.

Opportunities

People who never had an investment in their life are now investing in cryptocurrency, and a lot are getting rich. In fact, this is the point in history where everyone has the greatest opportunities to grow their wealth. There are many many ways to make money, from traditional methods such as investing, trading, and mining to not so traditional such participating in projects and platforms that never stop growing in number and size. (1, 2, 3, …).

Steemit just brings it to a whole new level, not only is it a great investment to earn money, but it does so well it’s DESENSITISING people to the emotional attachment of money. This effect is not just happening to an owner of a bitcoin mine in China, not to the whales of steemit but to every one of us, slowly but surely.

Predictions

Sometimes when your posts don’t get as much money as you’d like, you may feel under appreciated. I get this feeling sometimes and it made me think about its meaning. Why would someone feel this way when they are doing much better than if they were somewhere else.

Let’s do some simple math:
1 minnow upvote can give a Steemit post 0.01 SBD (around $0.10 now)
1000 likes on a post in Facebook would get you on average $0.00!

SteemitFacebook
(0.10 ÷ 1)(0 ÷ 1000)

I take it back, this is not simple math … Even the most sophisticated calculators can’t compare the value of a Steemit post to a facebook post because the latter is zero, but I can tell you it’s infinitely better. Yet no one is impressed, and it’s hard to be impressed when under each post and comment there sits the $ symbol as a gauge of the content value.

My prediction is that Steemit will have a remarkable effect on all other social media, users will no longer be happy with getting nothing in return and eventually they will get accustomed to earning money doing the simplest activities (like, share, post).
Getting an income from social media will not be something special and it won't be as rewarding. The value of the money won't be anything less but people will take it for granted and will always want more. This is not a bad thing per se because it’s showing us a promising future.

Gratitude

Let’s take the internet as an example. If you were anything like me 10 years ago, high speed internet were of extreme value. I used to get around 1-5 Mbps on a good day using a 3G modem. If you told me at that time that one day I'll be getting 100 Mbps internet, I would think that heaven has come to earth. Go back even 10 more years, and anything we do online now is their science fiction.

Look at me now using this high speed connection without a second thought. I'm taking it for granted. The value is still the same but the rewarding satisfying feeling is not there anymore. Similarly, the desensitisation to money is happening and it's a signal to a future of abundance and prosperity.

This brings us to another important question:

More money or more gratitude?
