Hundreds of newcomers join Steemit every week but find it difficult to get going in the beginning. The problem that they face is that there seems to be an information overload out of which they cannot escape. It suddenly seems to them that they have jumped into a whirlpool. As a result they get confused and end up not knowing what to do.
I have been on Steemit for a little more than two months - and let me add, with many ups and downs. So let me share with you some tips on what you need to do on this platform to see success.
Create More and Vote Less
Many users do it the other way round, that is they vote much more than they post thinking that they will earn regularly. They could not be farther from the truth - which is, you need to create content to be seen and noticed in the first place.
If you are edgy about creating a blog post when you are new, make comments instead. Comments are also a part of content and by making useful content you will be enriching someone else post for which he or she will be truly grateful. You tend to get rewarded much more for you comments than your blog posts when you are new.
Be Active
I wanted to say don't be lazy but I know from my own experience that time is short for many people. I squeeze in a couple of hours at the max to create content, curate posts and make useful comments.
The thing about creating content is that whatever you create must be your own and not copied from somewhere. Besides it should be useful and provide value. It could be as simple as providing your version of a useful how-to video that you saw on YouTube - of course you must quote the source.
You noticed what I did there - I gave you a good tip for creating a blog post, now you just have to follow it!
Use Images
You must have noticed that I use a images in all my posts. That is because including images makes a difference to the overall content in a post. It adds color to a post and may also drive home a point with a related image. Using gifs makes it very entertaining and even more readable. Giphy.com has so many nice gifs that can bring a smile to a reader's face. .
Be Consistent
It is not enough to publish a post, make a few comments and then disappear for a few days. Success on Steemit is tied to your turning up every day. Your followers will await your posts and you are expected to publish regularly on this platform. If you don't do that you will notice that people will tend to ignore you and your posts will get no visible initial whenever they are published.
Planning
This could be planning your daily activity on Steemit or making a plan with goals for you to succeed. As the old saying goes failing to plan is as good as planning to fail!
I note down the topics that I am going to publish as posts in the coming days. I stick to my schedule of posts during the week. If I have more time I do more than one blog post a day. I make it a point to make 5 to 10 comments every day that are all a few lines or paragraphs long.
I have detailed plans for each of my months on Steemit. You can read the previous posts down below at the end of the page, and check out my profile.
Steem Power
This is something that is no longer a big secret that it used to be. SP is like a magnet and attracts votes, comments, followers and ultimately success. It gives you the ability to vote high amounts, adjust your vote value and influence people with sheer power.
When a person with a high SP talks, everyone listens. When they post everyone takes a look, and then upvotes and resteems the post. There are many who follow each and every post of a high SP user and upvote them each time.
If you can afford it, buy some Steem and power up your SP. Or adjust your post payout to 100% SP that will increase your power in due course of time.
Fix A Time To Publish
This may not be as important as the other points but by publishing at the same time everyday primes your followers to expect a post at the same time every day. It nearly becomes a ritual that is duly appreciated on Steemit with upvotes.
I hope that these tips will help. If you follow all or even a few of them you are sure to be on the path to success. Wish you best of luck!
