Finale.
'Sir Galahad the Pure' was the first to express concerns about the metaphorical swamp which was consuming Camelot, however it was the Sorcerer Merlin who uncovered the truth - the force forged within 'Excalibur', was infecting the citizens with sinful symptoms, which were deadly and of 7:
1. Gluttony.
2. Fornication.
3. Greed.
4. Pride.
5. Despondency.
6. Wrath.
7. Sloth.
Conveniently immune from the power of the sword, Merlin sort to 'Make Camelot Great Again'. He set about the to build a magical wall to contain the evil magic oozing from the sword, then go about 'draining the swamp'. However, few were listening and those who did would generally accuse Merlin of 'colluding with Goblins,' and call for his impeachment.
It was only when Merlin caught Sir Lancalot shagging Queen Guinevere, down by the river, in broad daylight, to the delight of a score of spectators, did he realise that all hope was lost.
Returning to the throne room, Merlin moved to seize Excalibur from King Arthur's fat, sweaty hands. Excalibur however, suspecting Merlin's ill-intent, usurped Arthur's consciousness and body - with a climatic battle of visual sorcery ensuing.
Lightning strikes, thunderbolts, fire and brim-stone could be seen from miles around!
The city was being demolished as the ancient sword sought to destroy the most powerful sorcerer in the Steemit lands.
The battle progressed and Merlin was growing weaker with every incantation - all the while Excalibur continued to draw upon the STEEM it had accumulated.
All hope seemed lost!
Until one loan brave Knight charged up the stairs. It was 'Sir Galahad the Pure'. He understood the enormity of this battle and whom the true enemy of the Steemians was.
Running in full armour through a barrage of magic projectiles Galahad, lunged with sword in hand and drove it through Arthur's chest. The world went quiet. Excalibur had lost. Camelot was in ruins.
To ensure that the power of Excalibur would never again corrupt the steemians or the steem - Merlin drove the sword deep into a stone, binding it in magic, leaving it powerless.
Post Script
The location of 'Camelot' and the 'Sword in the Stone' are mystery, however the 'Legend of Kind Arthur' remains enshrined in Steemit Cannon.
Some believe that Merlin's powers would weaken over time and that Excalibur would rise again. Others say that only a pure soul would be able to unsheathe the sword and ultimately destroy this 'Artifact of the Ancients'.
What is known however, is that no living person has ever seen Excalibur...
... or have they?
