Davao City is the largest city in the Philippines in terms of land area. According to the 2015 census, it is the third-most-populous city in the Philippines and the most populous in Mindanao. Based on this, one may say that the potential of Steemit to grow in the city is huge; and this communal account is exerting much effort to bring more Davaoenos to the platform. However, much more is needed to make sure that support will and can be given once these new Steemians hit the platform.
In line with this, we are initiating two projects today; the weekly Featured Content and the Power-UP Brigade.
Featured Content
Our weekend updates will now feature post by authors mainly from Davao Region. We will include authors from its neighboring provinces until such time that they have formed their own communal group under SteemPH. We now have a #mga-dabawenyo channel in Steemit Philippines discord, where links to posts can be shared and we invite everyone to check the contents made by these talented Steemians.
And with no further ado, here are the posts for the first round of Featured Contents:
Kuya J's Diary Episode 6 - A Night in Davao City Part 1 by @iamkuyaj
In this post, we take a carefree stroll down the streets of Davao City. @kuyaj showcases his talent with the lense as he takes picturesque views of the city's night lights. We join him as he and his girlfriend relish a delicious meal at restaurant in Davao that is a must-visit. We tag along as they stop by the carnival and gives us a glimpse of the night view they enjoyed at The Peak in Gaisano, one of Davao's home-grown malls.
The Art Of Letting Go : Draw Your Dreams and Make Them Happen by @fukumineko
In this post, @fukumineko shows off her art skills as she paints a landscape featuring Mt. Fuji with a Cherry Blossom Tree on the foreground. She includes helpful tips for anyone who might be interested to try it too. Aside from photos of her work in progress, she also added a time-lapse video showing the process.
Giving School Supplies for the Kids of Cateel by @lakawero
In this post, we follow @lakawero in his adventure with his friends one fine day in December last year. They decided to join The Travel Teller - Olan Emboscado on a mission to give school supplies to the students in barangay Malibago Cateel. They rode a dump truck, traversed a muddy downhill road, and crossed a raging river, in order to get to Barangay Malibago where the students, teachers and parents were waiting. In the end, he too was grateful for having been able to share, to have witnessed the happiness of the kids who received the supplies, and for the realization that it's not what you have in life but the value you put into it. Truly, giving is indeed a rewarding experience.
Featured Contents will now be a part of our Weekly Post so stay tuned next weekend. Davaoenos, we will be on the look out for quality content from you so please share your posts in our channel #mga_dabawenyos.
Power-UP Brigade
We have been actively advocating the value of powering up. Aside from being a sound investment, your voting power is a useful tool to support our fellow Steemians. With the growth of our SteemPH family , your voting power will be invaluable in making sure that the new Steemians who arrive in the platform will get the support that you were once given. Powering up is one of the most profound way of giving back to the community and we would like to reward such action. We are giving away a total of 10 SBDs to 3 Steemians from Davao Region who will garner the most number of ADDED SP in the next 30 days.
Participants would have to be residents of the 5 provinces in Davao Region (Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental). Those who wish to participate should leave a comment with the name of the city/town of their location and their intent to join the Power-UP Brigade.
Participants will have 30 days to power up as much as they can. To give leeway to as much participants as possible, 30 days will start on Monday, February 12 and end on March 14. We will take note of your Steem Power as of February 12 (10AM MNL) and that amount will be considered your starting point.
This does NOT mean that participantns need to choose "100% Power UP" as their post pay-out. They can just convert their SBDs to Steem and then power-up. Whether they bought their SBDs or they got them from post pay-outs, it will be counted for as long as they are converted to Steem Power within the 30-day period.
The reward of 10 SBDs will be distributed in this manner:
Top 1 = 5 SBDs
Top 2 = 3 SBDs
Top 3 = 2 SBDsOn March 14 (10 AM MNL), accounts of the participants will reviewed again. The winners will be notified via a message sent to their wallet along with the SBD reward on March 15. The reward will be coming from a sponsor as the SBDs in this account will exclusively be used to fund our projects in Davao. For transparency, the winners will be announced in our weekly post on March 17 along with screenshots of the transfer.
The Power-UP Brigade is an initiative that is meant to show how increasing the value of your upvotes will benefit you, your fellow Steemians, and the whole Steemit ecosystem. We are hoping that all Davaoenos will take part in this.
