I thought this would be a cool post to do. It is a post about how the #steemsilvergold tag and group began way back in the day 7 months ago. The very first mention of the idea for a silver and gold stacking group on Steemit came from @hgmsilvergold on the 19th June 2017. In his post he had the idea to start a silver and gold stacking community on steemit. He had no mention of a tag and just some basic rules.

Encourage members to produce quality content.
Ensure members are rewarded for great content.
Ensure Steemit is a go-to place for precious metals news, analysis and more.
Ensure that the community becomes significant here on Steemit.

It was in the comments section that @missiontothemoon came up with the idea for everyone to use a tag and suggested #steem-silvergold. So now we know who came up with the tag for the group.

The 20th June 2017 - steemsilvergold is born

In a post the very next day the #steemsilvergold group was born and had 20 members as it's starting point. A group of people who had shown interest in the comments section of the of the idea post the day before. The post outlined the groups suggested goals and targets going forward, how the join the community and what we were to do to grow as a group. Please see below a list of the first 20 members of the group, it looks to me at a glance thats it 50/50 between gone and still here. We have a few OG's. Growth, changes and losing our leader

The group grew quickly and soon had over 100 members then hgmsilvergold seemed to be busy with other things. This was around the time i joined the group and started to use the tag. He seemed to just fade out and stopped posting around 4 months back and has made no reply's are comments in over 2 months but will always remain on the members list should he make a return. During this time @phelimint created Stax and we decided that Stax would pick up people using the tag and add them to the membership list. There were posts made and 3 mods picked by the community to sort things out for the group. We picked @phelimint for his hard work with Stax, me for taking care of the membership list and discord and @raybrockman because he is an OG and gives so much to the community, he helps new members and does some great community posts. A few things have changed have changed within the past 7 months but the core idea of the group has always stayed the same. Produce great silver and gold content, support each other as a community and become the number 1 stacking group on steemit.

Going forward how knows? We are 150ish strong now with alot of committed members and a good foundation to work from. I am just happy that i was able to find this group very quickly after signed up with Steemit and even if hgmsilvergold is not around anymore, still thankful to him for getting the ball rolling.
