This is my first entry for the STphotochallenge with the theme Forests. I took this photo at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, in the Southeast United States.
Live oak trees are native to many places around the world, including the Southeast United States. They have characteristic gnarled and twisting branches. Spanish moss is commonly draped over the limbs and branches of live oak trees like tinsel on a Christmas tree, and can hang up to 6 meters in length. Spanish moss belongs to a class of plants that absorbs water and other necessary nutrients through the air and available rainwater.
