He is a cotton candy seller.
This young man sells cotton candy in a traditional night market at Bogor, West Java. He could get benefit from visitors who actually want to see traditional circus near the market .

Indonesian people call it "arum manis" or "harum manis" ("sweet candy") or "rambut nenek" ("grandmother's hair"). It is funny name. I do not know who create the name first and why. But, Indonesian people are very creetive for making traditional food names. For example, Sundanese have "cireng", which stands for "aci goreng" or "fried starch (tapioca)". I wrote about cireng in my last article: Fried Starch from Cassava Root in The Evening
Visitors stand in queque to buy it. Price of candy in big size, like a candy in plastic bag in upper-left, is cheap. It is just Rp 10.000 or US$ 1.

A kind of machine which is like a big bowl in down right corner is a traditional machine to produce cotton candy. I would like to record the process of making cotton candy using this machine. But the seller has made many candies and he don't use the machine right now.
I am amazed at the physical process of making cotton candy . A spoonful of sugar is put on a reverse-like basin machine. The machine then spins. Abracadabra!The sugar turned into strands of snow-like hairs. The seller picked it up with a piece of wood.

##Pedagang Arum Manis di Pasar Malam
Aku kadang takjub pada proses fisika pembuatan arum manis. Sesendok gula ditaruh di mesin mirip baskom terbalik. Mesin lalu berputar kencang. Sim salabim, gula itu berubah menjadi helai-helai gula mirip salju.
Tukang arum manis lalu mengambilnya dengan sebatang kayu dan memutar helai-helai gula itu di kayu itu. Jadilah arum manis yang mirip gumpalan salju di ujung ranting pohon.
Entah siapa penemunya. Konon ini jajanan generasi 1990-an. Saya tak tahu apakah sebelum tahun itu makanan ini sudah ada atau tidak.
