Shoot for the moon, and if you miss you'll be among the stars. - Les Brown
So we can't fail anyways, Les.
Three months have passend since we published the last update on the "Steem Surf World Map". The idea was pretty simple: spotting the local waves of our surfing community members and putting us all together on one map.
Now with the idea of Smart Media Tokens the idea could grow to another level.
What about tokenizing the Steem surf community and using a "SurfToken" to identify their members?
@surfermarly dreaming big
What if we had our own tokenized surf community?
When I started to call for surfers on steemit together with @creatr three months ago, Smart Media Tokens were still not announced.
Now that we know that this is going to be the next revolutionary project built on the Steem blockchain, we all might adjust our future plans accordingly.
Tokens will be a game changer.
They will help to empower all sub-communities that are already existing or going to be established within the steemit community.
Let's think big: Who of the surf enthusiasts on steemit wouldn't love to possess a SurfToken as a symbol of a cool lifestyle?
"Show me your tokens, and I tell you who you are!"
Who needs Facebook groups if we can have a selection of shiny tokens that represent both a monetary and an ideological value?
Since I read the roadmap presented by Ned Scott and Dan Larimer back in January 2017, I'm impatiently waiting for the announced community feature.
Not only for the surf community on steemit it would be great to group like-minded people and have a concrete place where to bundle and share common interests.
Together with the concept of Smart Media Tokens the community feature will surely make a difference here!
A field of interest - represented by a token - can be provided with real value. You would even be able to trade fields of interests among different sub-communities.
Wow...
The longer I write about the topic, the more ideas come to my mind! :-) I will write them all down carefully.
Here's how steemit's surf world map currently looks like! Who else wants to be part of it?
Our fellow surfer @creatr had the brilliant idea to use the website what3words.com to spot the steemians' breaks all over the world.
Just in case you missed the previous articles on this topic: the second one also explains how to use what3words to localize your own break and how to get on the map

I have uncountable ideas on how to further create a real surf community on steemit. The more participants we have, the merrier! So if you want to be part of it, just get in touch.
Surfing is not just riding waves. It represents a whole lifestyle.
Everybody who's got a life-affirming personality, an open-minded view on the world and who loves getting in touch with new peole (inside and outside the water), is kindly invited to be part of it.
I really can't wait to have the relevant features installed on steemit to create a steemy surf community! Until then we will use the channels we already have to make this sub-community grow...
Have a great day & dream big, steemians!
