There was this idea of a small, poor creature, scared and hunted by evil monsters. I am not sure if this idea had anything to do with the appearance of "Pan's Labyrinth". Anyway, I drew this little sketch and then I realized it soon in a picture. At least approximately, some things are easier to paint than to create in reality.
Here are the steps:
First I made the protagonists, three figures made of clay, the monsters with a wire skeleton. And an extra hand!
Da war diese Idee von einem kleinen armen Wesen, verängstigt und gejagt von bösen Monstern. Ich bin mir auch nicht sicher, ob diese Idee irgendwas mit dem Erscheinen von „Pan´s Labyrinth“ zu tun hatte. Jedenfalls zeichnete ich diese kleine Skizze und habe sie dann auch bald in einem Bild realisiert. Zumindest ungefähr, manche Dinge lassen sich einfacher malen, als in Realität nachstellen.
Aber hier grob die Schritte:
Zuerst habe ich die Protagonisten hergestellt, drei Figuren aus Knete, die Monster mit einem Draht-Skelett. Und eine Extra-Hand!

Es gab verschiedene Experimente mit der Platzierung und der Lichtgestaltung, Farbe und Kontrast.
In the end, as always, I added textures. In this case, among other things, a scanned cloth, which I used for a few pictures. In this case as a warm, decorative contrast to the cool and threatening image content.
Am Ende habe ich – wie immer - Texturen hinzugefügt. In diesem Fall unter anderem einen gescannten Stoff, den ich für ein paar wenige Bilder verwendet habe. Hier als warmen, dekorativen Kontrast zu dem kühlen und bedrohlichen Bildinhalt.
