Hey Steemit!
It's been a while since I've eaten in a legit Chinese restaurant so I thought this contest would be good for me to reminisce. The last time we had Chinese Dining was actually for my mother's birthday celebration a couple of months ago, at a restaurant called Taste Paradise!
So I read that Taste Paradise is actually listed as one of Singapore’s Top 10 Chinese Restaurants! Taste Paradise prides itself as a strong upstart in Chinese fine dining. Dubbed ‘Chinese cuisine with a difference’, Taste Paradise offers an elaborate menu of fine Cantonese and contemporary Chinese cuisine with an impressive array of the finest and most innovative dim sum and roast fare.

The interior is very well decorated and furnished. Walking into the restaurant made me feel like I was transported into a whole new place outside of the mall. The warm lighting was darker but also made it very cozy and comfortable.
With gilded slates weaving across the large expanse of the restaurant’s ceiling space, the decor is reminiscent of a dragon – the mystical animal revered by the Chinese through the ages. In the main and private halls, a series of hand-painted and life-sized portraits of China’s most illustrious emperors complete the picture of grandeur.

After looking over their expansive menu, we ordered a few dishes for the three of us.
We started with an appetizing yet light, double-boiled ginseng chicken soup.
And we also ordered an appetizer of fried tofu, which came with a side of thai chili sauce.
The tofu was soo good! It was crispy on the outside, but light and fluffy on the inside, and had some seasoning on the batter so it was slightly spicy and peppery. Yum! 😋
The next thing we ordered was our main dish of ee-fu noodles - my favourite!
The noodles were really good, pretty much like all other ee-fu noodles I've eaten in Chinese restaurants. But that's good! At least this dish is always consistent and never disappoints. Sometimes fried rice can be quite dry or plain.
The next thing to arrive was our triple meat platter! There was pork char siew, roast duck and roasted pork belly/siew yok.
I remember the char siew being quite sweet, the duck was pretty okay, and the roast pork was crispy and savoury. Pretty yummy overall! 😋
The last dish was our vegetables - broccoli with scallop and crab meat purée!
The crab meat was pretty strong, but it mixed well with the broccoli and was pretty tasty! The scallops were fresh too, and not fishy at all.
Since it was my mother's birthday, we bought her 2 small cakes from a bakery at ION Orchard, and asked the staff to hold onto it until dessert. When they served it it looked pretty good!
It was so nice of them to put the small cakes on a fancy tray and add some flair to it with the dry ice. They didn't have to do that, but they did it anyway! And I think their efforts paid off when they saw our reactions. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed they managed to make our cheap cakes look nice. 😅
We bought a mango cake and a cheesecake for my mum. The mango cake was definitely better though. So I'm glad we bought 2 cakes because I wasn't sure which to get.
By the end we were all so stuffed! But it was an amazingly delicious meal! I'd definitely consider going there again, and would recommend for any special occasion!
