Hiking suggestion #2 - Kofce (Slovenia)

It was 10th of July, 2016. A friend of mine suggested that i put my bike on the side for one Sunday and that i should join him on a hiking trip instead. I really did not want to do it, because i love cycling and thinking of a wasted Sunday not cycling was a dreadful idea ... "Trust me", he said, "you will like it". Now one year later i can only be thankful for his persistence because hiking totally addicted me. How could anyone deny enjoying in a view like this

This Saturday almost exactly 1 year after I took a trip with my wife and our dog to the mountain hut called Kofce.

This lovely hut lies bellow the Koschuta (Košuta) ridge. It was established in 1941 on the foundation of a previously standing private hut and opened for public. Now it is a very popular destination in the Karawanks. The service is really friendly and food is delicious. You can have some of the best dairy products, supplied with milk from the near by cows.

I would definitely recommend you to try some of their blueberries štruklji. You won't regret it, i promise!

The hut is easy accessible and is very popular family mountain hiking destination. With it's amazing view, children playground and good Slovenian food it can be a perfect destination for one or more days, because you can also sleep over. They can accommodate up to 40 people per night. The hut can also be an excellent starting point for visiting the Koschuta ridge peaks or the near by mountains like Stol, Begunjščica or Vrtača.

What a view!! :)

But the day wasn't over for me! On the same day me and my friend were going for a nightly hiking tour on the highest mountain in the Karawanken - Stol. It was a full moon and a clear sky forecast for the night. Oh boy how were they wrong!
