Lake Ashi (芦ノ湖) is a beautiful place to visit in Japan. The lake, which is also called Hakone Lake resides in Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture right next to Mount Hakone. Lake Ashi is a crater lake and was created by the Hakone volcano some 49,000–60,000 years ago. (Wikipedia)
The name ashi 芦 and ko 湖 translate into English as "lake of reeds". I didn't actually see any reeds, but the views were spectacular.
We took a boat across much of the lake to reach the Hakone Ropeway, which took us to a lookout point where we could see the entire lake.
I was quite happy with the pictures I was able to take on the boat ride. I hope you enjoy them.
Snapped a pic of the boat driver!
Michelle and I took a month to travel across Japan and China this past May (2017). It was epic! Follow me @slickwilly and Michelle @curiouserfor posts about our adventures!
