Riding The Hakone Ropeway (Aerial Tramway) - Highlights Of Traveling Japan

Yesterday I posted about Lake Ashi. The main purpose of the boat ride was to get to the Hakone Ropeway.

The Aerial Tramway can take you all over Hakone, Japan. The part Michelle and I rode included scenic views of the mountains and Lake Ashi. The other half of the ropeway takes you from Owakudani to Sounzan, giving you an aerial view of the hot springs and volcanic activity that stems from Mount Hakone.

We began the Hakone Ropeway next to Lake Ashinoko at the Togendai Station and rode up to a field on top of the mountains.

The views from the top were amazing! Check it out:

We could in fact see Mount Fuji from the highest point of the field, but it was hard to see. Binoculars would have been clutch.

At the top there was a simply a building and a torii gate.

It was both serene and extremely windy at the top, a very cool experience though.

The last picture of this post (the panorama) really gives you an idea of how unique the landscape is.

Michelle and I took a month to travel across Japan and China this past May (2017). It was epic! Follow me @slickwilly and Michelle @curiouser for posts about our adventures!
