Hi Steemians,
Apart from the world class beef at Hida, Hida also has some of the best Japanese sake in Japan. In Hida, it is a colder part of Japan and brewing sake is best in these temperatures. The area also has great mountain water which produces top quality rice which is essential to make good sake. Therefore when you visit Hida, you will see many stores selling sake of their own brand or a variety of them.
Many stores that sell sake has these old bottles hanging around their shops to tell customers what they sell.
As you can see, there was a huge variety of sakes at these liquor stores.
Close to where we lived, there is a brewery called Watanebe Sake Brewery and is quite famous in Japan as they have won many awards in the past few years.
One of many awards shown in store
Lets have a look what they have. The brewery only sells around around 10 types of sake and some have special packaging which is limited for the region.
There the milky ones according to the store they just taste very different
I ended up getting this one as this sake came number 1 in the whole of Japan last year. I bought two bottles. And look at the price - not bad for an award winning sake!
