Here we are my steemit friends! Twelve Midnight. New Years Eve in what turned out to be the wildest most dangerous next 20 minutes I can recall having in a very long time. In these photos the games begin! Men lighting piles of "manigotes" or paper mache dolls that are burned to bring in the new year.
Things started getting out of hand. As grown men devolved into excited boys playing with fire. Running around drunk and throwing mini sticks of dynamite into the burning piles scattered all through the streets going on for kilometers! Explosions all around.
People with lighter fluid literally adding fuel to the fires. Deafening explosions and huge plumes of smoke; at one moment I felt like I was in a war zone. These still photos don't necessarily capture the atmosphere like my videos did, so I left a link to those post at the bottom. However these are some great still shots of Real Life Captured New Year's Eve in Guayaquil Ecuador!
