Travel Pro Gear #8: Three Travel Pro Items You Need to be Travel Pro!

Hey there my Steemit friends! Today I bring you three more items you need to be travel pro! In this series I show the things I travel with. It's all I own. So each one is useful, important, and very significant to me. Let's get right into it!

This is my USB memory stick key chain. I got it in the US for a couple dollars through Amazon. I use it as a back up for very important files. Since I obviously don't travel with a printer or scanner, I put files on here that I need to print, sign, scan, and email or upload. I take it to a local copy place which are common all around the world except in the US and some other western countries.

So this thing weighs nothing, cost almost nothing, but is incredibly useful and valuable to me. I also like the swing hinge protective function that is has too. The little key attached to it is the back up to this lock that you see below.

This lock I bought several years ago while mountain biking 1,000 kilometer's through the Ecuadorian Andes Mountains. I arrived in the city of Cuenca and I was going to stay at a hostel for the first time ever for the social aspect of it. I needed a lock to store my stuff in the lockers they provided; so I walked down the street and found this lock for a dollar.

Long story short I was exhausted and tired after biking so long. I wanted to take an afternoon nap, so I lied down and tried to get some sleep. There were people coming and going, turning the lights on and off, talking loudly; an Asian couple who could barely speak English were trying to engage me in conversation while I was trying to sleep.

Normally I charge forty dollars an hour for English conversation lessons on skype or in Korea! Since listening to people speak broken was my normal job I was really bothered as I just wanted to be left alone and take nap. I was exhausted. This was all going on in the room I was "sharing".

I thought to myself this is nuts. I need some privacy and some space of my own. I took my bags, my bike, and my new lock and left! I went up the street and got a hotel! With all my years of travel I still have never shared a room in a hostel. However I may do so when I travel Europe this summer as I know hotels are very expensive in that part of the world. So I'm holding onto the lock for now.

This one is obvious. The headphones came with my 60 dollar new smart phone I bought in Mexico six months ago. They work great. I use them on airplanes, buses, occasionally in a restaurant too. I often download educational programs, audio books, pod casts and put them on my phone to listen to. Music to me doesn't hold my attention and entertain me like it used to.

Thanks for checking out what's in my bag. I hope I gave you some ideas for your next travel adventure. Until next time -Dan "World Travel Pro!"
