STEEMPUNK-NET / MMORPG on Steemit / FAQ v 1.0

Hey guys, I am one of the beta testers for a new initiative on steemit called Steempunk-Net; an MMORPG that you can play while simultaneously interacting on steemit through a Chrome browser extension. The brainchild of @dehenne, @jedigeiss, and @asperger-kids. (Hope I didn't miss anyone!)

Great artwork and storyline by @asperger-kids, @bronkong and @kunilunde.

@Teamsteem is an Advisor, he is doing a marvelous work for Steem and has been of very great value to us! Please consider voting him as a witness.

I wanted to help contribute through creating a FAQ for people who are new to the game; this will be updated pretty frequently as things change (and I'm sure I missed some things!). The game is at a very early stage and we have a long way to go, so many things will be improved upon and new features will be introduced!

Feel free to ask any and all questions in the comments below :)

FAQ v1

What browers are supported?
Currently only Chrome, but others will be added later.

Where can I download the extension?
It is on the Chrome store.

I've installed the game, now what?
Check out @dkarts post about getting started.

How can I find other players who play?
Go to the discord channel and on the left hand side you will see #battle-announcement where you can post your own profile and view the profiles of other active beta testers.

What can I do with components?
Currently nothing; but in the future you will be able to craft items.

Will there be guilds in the future?
Yes - what that looks like will be determined at a later date.

Where can I find chests?
The Steempunk-Net blog page is a "spawning ground" for chests (but only components); otherwise, as long as you are anywhere on Steemit, you will have a chance for a chest to pop up.
The more you interact (vote, comment, post) the higher chance you have of finding chests. Make sure to check out @dkarts post about getting started.

How long for chests to pop up?
That depends on your interaction with Steemit; but it can take an hour or more for chests to show up (except for the Steempunk-net blog page). The algorithm is constantly being watched to see what tweaks need to be made.

Is it normal to be logged out?
Yes, it is a known issue which is being addressed.

Will chests still appear if the frame is closed?
Yes, as long as you are logged in you will continue to find chests even if the frame is closed.

How do I gain experience?
Currently the only way to gain experience is to battle others; this will be expanded in the future.

How do I fight?
Go to a players Steemit profile (you can find this in battle announcements in Discord under #battle-announcements) and then click on the shield (bottom, far right), then click on "Attack".

Will the sidebar only open on Steemit?
Yes

How does a battle work?
Once an attack is declared you will have 2 hours (1 hour in beta) to be as active as possible and grow in strength for the fight. (Active = voting, commenting, posting, etc)

Will any comment I make on Steemit help me?
The comment must meet a certain "quality factor"; for example, "nice post" or "nice" won't count.

Do I have to be following someone on Steemit to attack them?
No, you simply have to go to their page to initiate a battle.

Can I only attack people who are playing the game?
Yes, currently. But in the future if you attack someone (without the app installed) it will "invite" them to play the game - or something like that - still discussing.

How does Strength and Defense work?
Defensive and Offensive items will stack to increase your defense and strength.

I know I have fought battles but when I click on "History" it says I haven't fought any battles?
It means you have been logged out; you just need to log back in. You can right click inside the frame and select "Reload Frame" and it will take you back to the login page.

I just fought a battle but my stats have not changed?
You need to refresh the frame; right click and select "reload frame"; (an update is coming)

Can I attack someone who is currently offline?
Yes

What happens if a higher level attacks a lower level?
They will gain very little XP for a win.

How do I see another players profile?
Go to their page and click on the Shield icon. You will still have to click "attack" to initiate a battle.

I've been sitting on the Steempunk-Net profile page and I'm not getting any loot?
Make sure you are logged in. Also, in my experience, if I have two steemit tabs open I will not receive any loot (only on the steempunk-net page! You will still receive loot on any other steemit page even with multiple tabs open).

I have installed the plugin, I get the dropdown where I select "Steempunk-Net" but nothing happens.
Do you have Hotspot Shield installed in your browswer? It may be blocking the frame from opening. Disable adblocking and try again; let devs know if you find a conflict.

What is "SPF / 1"?
The SPF shows your Steemit activity (voting, commenting, posting), but it's only a small factor. This factor is taken into account in the fight, and this is the decisive factor for battles when users are fairly equal in strength.

I am commenting and voting but I do not see my SPF changing.
A) The profile isn't designed to update every minute. B) The Steemit network is often lagging.

How does Constitution work?
Constitution decreases after every fight and will automatically recover over the course of time. In the future, there will be items to refresh and buff your constitution.

Do I lose Constitution for being attacked?
No, You only lose Constitution when you attack (-2 per attack).

How do I regain Constitution?
Every full hour you will recover +2 Con.

Why do I keep losing to @Allstarrunner?
He is unbeatable ;)
