What are the most important things to succeed as a Steemian?
Knowing Steemit is exactly one of them.
Steemit help pages (welcome and FAQ) give us the great first step for it,
The welcome page (quick start guide) gives a good start to people who are right after registration.
The FAQ answers most of the newbies' questions.
However, some non-English newbies cannot utilize them.
They don't know what to do first, so they may not be able to receive votes or comments on their first, second and third … posts.
Sometimes they may even give up.
This is a big loss for the community.
In July, I created Japanese version of FAQ and quick start guide as Steem.center Wiki articles.
They got a favorable reception, but because they are not linked from Steemit except my posts, some new users could not find them.
Steemit recently supported multiple languages.
I also provided Japanese locale data to Steemit's github.
It is not merged yet, but Japanese language will be added to Steemit soon.
And, I think internationalize of help pages is also needed.
Today, I sent a pull request about Japanese version of Steemit help files.
It created by re-editing the translation for Wiki.
I reviewed translations and updated the contents to the latest one.
And I checked them in my test server.
My pull request is #1947.
However, this includes only help contents files.
I don't have any experiences of development with JavaScript, so I don't know how to switch locales of help pages dynamically.
So it is necessary to develop of this feature to access Japanese help pages from Steemit.com.
Call for translators!
These translations are hard work, but it is necessary for growth of the non-English community.
I hope all Steemians will be able to get help in their own languages.
Thank you for reading.
