Witness #63

Thought I'd keep the title short and simple this time, even though this might not attract as many people as I'd hope, sometimes minimalism is preferred. Think I'll change things up a bit and open with two of my personal favorite quotes:

“The simplest things are often the truest.”

Richard Bach 1936

“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius – and a lot of courage – to move in the opposite direction.”

E.F. Schumacher 1911

What I love about both these quotes is that they bring a sense of self desire to the foreground, reminding ourselves to not over think, or over indulge, but to focus on what matters. Simplify life when possible, no need to over complicate. I think we should try to remember that as a collective when changing things here own steemit, hard forks and soft forks alike, remember to always look for the simplest answer.

Now thats move onto some more grounded conversation...

What I've Been Up To

So if you are a follower of mine and actually stoped in on my posts recently 😉 you'd know I have been working on 2 bots as of late: @helpbot & @steemprice (Which will now respond to this post 😎). Both with very different objectives but born from the same idea, simplified and easy to get information. The first one @helpbot has some solid amount of work to be done. Hopefully I will be able to collect more FAQ via the bot intruder for it to go live with phase 2 or beta responses. To have it actually answer simplistic question about the steemit platform, good ones. Now @steemprice although not extremely simple of a bot is much less of a daunting task but still, getting every currency into it will take some work. So I hope to have updates on both as they come.

I also hope to get back to doing more fun posts like my current 50/50 Cryptocurrency prediction contest and more Cooking and photography posts like my Flowers and Poem post (Awww how cute 😚 I know lol).

And finally of course will be to keep in the loop on all the current issues, topics, and chatter going on within the witness and Steemit community in general which leads me to SPAM and Reward Pool Issues.

SPAM

What are we going to do about users that create hundreds if not thousands of accounts and have these account upvote comments made on very old posts just before the 12 hour cutoff occurs (massive amount of extra data put onto the blockchain) with countless connected accounts? Just one list of them & its still large by @gikitiki

This is something I think we really need to look at, SPAM & Trolling can cause serious problems to a growing platform like our own. This kind of behavior really puts people off, even the best of us, most strong willed, can become a victim, and it just makes someone feel like giving up. Not only that, but within our unique social media platform it can actually effect the financial side of things. This kind of spamming will cause rewards to be drained from the pool (meaning less STEEM for all of the non-spamming good deserving Steemians. Which leads us to...

The Reward Pool

As for the Reward Pool some might think that all of these top trending posts is what is taking away from the little guy and not so much the recent SPAM. This is not entirely true. Just look at @exan recent post where you can see that out of 5666 authors who got rewards for the day only (9%) of the reward pool went to Orca and Whales & even dolphins earned (27.874%). The majority of the reward pool (64%) goes to accounts that are considered Minnows and Planktons!

Witness Stats & Voting

I wanted to share a great tool... not created by me! I know crazy... but by a fellow Witness and Steemit advocate @netuoso. The tool: STEEM Witness Stats. I think it is very important (as I've mentioned before) that smaller users have a say on who is a Top Witnesses (VOTE!) and for larger, more influential users, that they have not wasted their vote or miss-directed it to inactive Witnesses! To make sure you are in the GREEN go ahead, visit the site and put in your username. Its simple, just how I like it 😉. If you have a red spot make sure to correct it and vote for active Witnesses, whomever that may be!

Number 63

My current rank as a Witness and I'm very grateful to have been able to climb this quickly, via the trust of some great Steemians! Thanks You! Hopefully I can gain more trust and support from you out there and I look forward to becoming a strong reliable Witness for the long haul! Whether you have a extra spot open or have inactive witnesses in your list I'd very much appreciate your Vote! I like how @netuoso set up his little how to vote so I borrowed it. So Obviously I have to give him a shoot out! 😎

Vote for @blueorgy as Witness

  1. Go to the witness voting page on SteemIt.com
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate the vote box
  3. Input my name (blueorgy) and hit vote.
  4. Rejoice in self achievement!

As I Witness, I try to make myself as available as possible to anyone so reach out to me anytime by either mentioning me @blueorgy within a post or comment (My Mentions Bot Will Auto Respond so that I don't miss anything) or you can always send me a PM/DM on http://steemit.chat! I try to respond to everyone but please try to avoid link Spamming.

Look forward to hearing from you!
