@Bacchist - Meet The Witnesses #41

#41 (now #39) - @Bacchist

First, and clearly most importantly, Bacchist is a Phish fan. He is also a self described “activist involved in radical politics, who spent 4 months sleeping in a tent” during the Occupy political movement in the US. According to him, this was a formative experience which partially made him the man he is today.

Other than the tent part, I'm sorry I missed it. I could have perhaps visited with Bacchist back then by merely hopping on a train for a few stops. A potentially life-long friend could have been purchased for the cost of a few quality lounge chairs and a cooler of brewskies (or {insert other vice here}).

I assume he was staying in something rather classy. I think I heard that Phish fans are known for their rigid standards of quality.

A long-time Steemit poster, his early posts cover mostly Steemit politics, plagiarism, and abuse reports. Later, he added anarchism into the mix. From there, he moved on to the fantasy sports and music communities on Steemit.

Bacchist holds the distinction of being the only witness so far (to my knowledge) who actually held an “exploratory committee” post, or in other words, did not campaign for witness votes until back-up witnessing a bit first.

Personally, I think this is a very cool idea, and you can tell he attempted to put the community first. I would probably choose to follow his approach if I lit up a witness server.

Bacchist is an avid community member, and a regular at the Steemit Poker League. I haven’t had the chance to speak with him at the tables, but he is certainly a regular grinder at the tournaments. He is a regular resteemer of poker-related articles, though recently, not a huge poster himself.

Bacchist also gets a thumbs-up from this author for his taste in Beastie Boys tracks (Body Movin’,) although I fear now that I have mentioned this classic, I must speculate on its innuendo.

Personally, I think the consistent references to "coconut lotion" and exhortations to "lemme get some action from the back section" paint a sordid picture of the Beastie Bedroom.

A long time ago, Bacchist wrote an interesting post worried that Dan's attempt to implement a new feature to "flag a downvote" (or negate) represented an abuse of power or judgment. I wonder if he would still feel the same way today? Having changed to a linear rewards curve, the platform is in a much different place now than it was then, and Bacchist has seen both. Is his reduced posting frequency a result of what he perceives as potentially negative changes?

Bacchist holds 7,000 SP and is powering down.
