A note to myself. Procrastination is a lot like....

Procrastination is a lot like....

I heard this quote once when I was in my mid-twenties and have never forgotten it as crass as it is. So a head's up if you are a delicate flower you may find this a little rude but what the hell, it's my page so be warned and read on at your own risk...

Procrastination is a lot like masturbation, it feels great at the time but in the end your only fucking yourself...

Now don't get me wrong I am not saying there is anything wrong with procrastination or masturbation.

As I am a master of procrastination. Take today for instant, I had a whole day off and I have a list a mile long of things to tidy up and complete prior to picking up our adopted son from Thailand in a few months, not to mention that I haven't posted in six days now and what did I do...

Get my hair done! Photo doesn't do it justice!

Which was number one on my list of things to do after the normal routine of get up, gym, eat etc. The problem is that I stopped after that, I never moved onto number two, three four or twenty-six. I brought junk food on the way home, which I am entitled too as why else would I get up at 5:30 am most mornings for the gym.

Life is about balance!

Turned on the TV to chill while eating and got sucked into a number of episodes of "Charmed", read a bit on the couch and then promptly fell asleep until after four pm. I try too not be too hard on myself when I don't get everything I want done, and celebrate the small wins as there were days when I couldn't even shower myself, joys of chronic illness.

So much to learn!

However, it's annoying that I so often feel paralysed the sheer volume of things to do that I start none and metaphorically speaking "fuck" myself. Is also annoying that I know if I just ticked off one or two of those things of my list I would feel a sense of achievement.

So despite my urge to continue to procrastinate I instead decided to write about it and kickstart the day even as the night rolls in as who needs sleep anyway!

Thanks for stopping by to read my note to self. I feel better knowing I have posted and now have the motivation to continue with the online bills, overdue shopping and dinner!
