The Wizards betrayal – A Concept Fantasy Story - Part Four

Cont. from Part Three

...Nathan was dreaming, the kind of deep sleep state that makes you feel like your real life is just a distant memory.

He was a kid again back at his home village of Grassmier. He was playing pretend sword fights, chasing his mates around the temple grounds, Patrick, Josha and… who was the podgy kid again? That’s right Sam!

He felt happy, mates that would always be friends and debating over who the most powerful mage would be when they grew up. Each friend had made a pretend fire shard out of red painted rock and string, wearing their powerful necklaces they would pretend to lob fireballs at each other, dodge and roll, just like they had seen the adults doing in the training grounds.

Sometimes the kids would role play... in his dream he was back when Patrick was the pretend Great Wizard Charok, the longest living and most powerful fire wizard of all!, it was so funny as they performed pretend magical feats to appease their overload Charok.

Then there was Jarred, the bully of the group, Nathan disliked Jarred so much, he was the Head monk’s son and always favored by the seniors, yet so cruel to those below his station. .

...Now in his dream he was suddenly older,  17 years old and at the recent receiving ceremony, leaning forward and having his real life fire shard necklace placed over his neck. His mentor the wizard monk Bargee winking and presenting the jewel.

Where had the years gone? As dreams sometimes do, suddenly he was transported to the passing out engagement ceremony, holding his spear ready to demonstrate his skills.

This would be the last time they would need to demonstrate their mastery of physical weapons, as soon they would bond with their new fire shard necklaces and accept the true powers of a fire mage.

His opponent wearing flashy training Armour and special equipment obviously someone of high station and standing.
