Hello Stemians,
Today I attended a meeting for the preparation of the eleventh annual World Autism Awareness Day which will be observed on April 2, 2018. I joined in the seminar as an autism activist and for my involvement with autistic schools as a volunteer.
World Autism Awareness Day 2 April 2018 aims to increase awareness among people about disabled people, especially children, with autism. The day often features educational events for teachers, health care workers and parents, as well as exhibitions showcasing work created by children with autism.
During the month, different foundations will arrange events to observe the day. As I am involved with an autistic school for the last couple of years as a volunteer, I have an opportunity to support the children who are autistic.
This year theme of the world Autism Awareness Day is empowering women and girls with autism and involving them and their representative organizations in policy and decision making to address these challenges.
On 23 February 2018, I went to a picnic with some of the autistic children in our city. I was playing with the autistic kids during the picnic.
On 2 April 2018, DC office will arrange cultural events with participation of autistic children from different schools and also will do a short distance railly and discussion seminar.
Many Social Welfare Organizations and Organizations from Sylhet City joined in the today's meeting. They also shared their plan about the autism awareness day 2018. All the organization and institutions who are involved with autism activities were invited to the meeting.
