Why Christian Medical College, Vellore will admit only one student this year.

Central & state governments committees, through NEET, select students through centralized counselling for medical institutions.

   VISION STATEMENT
The Missions office of CMC, Vellore
   seeks to equip
   health professionals & institutions
to be an effective witness for
the Lord Jesus Christ in the
   Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20)
   & in the healing ministry.

  MISSION STATEMENT
  The Missions office CMC, Vellore
   works towards the transformation
   of the institutions by developing
   health professionals who can
   effectively communicate the gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ &
   can administer excellent health care.
However, Christian Medical College, Vellore, a Christian minority institution, wants to select NEET qualified students through its own counselling.

CMC took its quest for the right to choose its own students to the Supreme Court of India.

CMC Vellore has admitted just one student, out of a possible one hundred, a soldier's son nominated by the central government in Delhi for CMC's MBBS under graduate program. A Christian nominee has been selected for CMC's graduate super specialty course for which normally caters to 62 students.

We select students from all over the country with exceptional social concern, to serve and help and who have demonstrated empathy. Many students we choose are from poor background in remote areas and they go back and serve in those areas. High marks alone don't guarantee willingness to serve. We accept NEET. As a minority institution we believe we have the right to choose among qualified candidates fulfilling our vision.
Dr Anna Pulimood, Principal, Christian Medical College, Vellore.
