From Mongols to Mughals: How Kali came into great prominence in the Hindu pantheon

The Mongols

On September 22, 1398, the Mongol hordes began their conquest of India. The Mongols slaughtered multitudes just for sport.

An unintended consequence of the Mongol invasion of the Indian sub-continent was that Kali came into great prominence in the Hindu pantheon.

The Mughals

In varying degrees, the Mongols were followers of Islam. One hundred years, after the first Mongol invasion, the descendants of the Mongols, the Mughals would become the rulers of India.

Till the ascent of the British Empire in the 18th century, the spiritual beliefs of the Mughals dominated India's rulers. The Mughal belief, in various iterations, was to enforce submission to Allah & Islam. Ancient Hindu temples were destroyed & mosques arose in their place. Greenfield mosques were constructed out of the debris & wealth of Hindu temples. Hindu holy men, sadhus were mercilessly slaughtered.

This Jamii Masjid built in the months of the year 587 (hijri) by the Amir, the great, the glorious commander of the Army, Qutb-ud-daula wad-din, the amir-ul-umara Aibeg, the slave of the Sultan, may God strengthen his helpers!
The materials of 27 idol temples, on each of which 2,000,000 Deliwal coins had been spent were used in the (construction of) this mosque.

The pacific, Hare Krishna, curd eating natives were no match for the martial Mughals. Hindus quickly realized that a fearsome warrior deity was needed for the populace to rally around.

In that critical juncture of the social & religious disaster of the Hindu race, the ferocious & powerful goddess Kali appeared with her rapid growth in thousands of temples .....and the Hindus regained their strength of mind & religious belief & became morally more powerful in facing the tyrants with the holy name of the goddess on their lips.

Hinduism v Islam?

The Indian press is replete with stories about communual violence i.e. primarly Hindu Muslim violence. Pakistan was carved out of India as a homeland for Indian Muslims.
In the realm of the spirit, are they different?
Kaliwas given a much needed boost by the Mongols & the Mughals.

Why learn about Kali?

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
     2 Cor 2:11, KJV
Much of the modern church, has been ignorant of Kali's schemes. This article & those to follow are a brief description of Kali, a history of her workings & her devastating worldwide impact.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God
to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience,
when your obedience is fulfilled.
2 Cor 10:3-6, KJV
We're called to educate ourselves
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge,
I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten
the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Hos 4:6

We need not have any fear: the Son of Man did not use His Son of God override.

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown)
love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment,
so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown
into a sufficient understanding of God’s love].
1 John 4:18 (AMP)

Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love
has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit
who was given to us.
Romans 5:5 (AMP)
