Classical-Music Curation Number 5 (with a 1 SBD prize quiz!)

I'm currently on tour and recording as well, so forgive me if I rambling. I'm pretty tired!

The community continues growing at an increasing pace, very soon I will probably need to get more people to help greet and mod the channels on the Dischord. We had winners for the bonus quiz, but no guesses for the main quiz. The answers are at the bottom of this post, right after the shameless self promotion masquerading as avoiding conflict of interest.

There is now a recommendation and composer of the week channel up in the Dischord. I will soon open another community account (to complement the @classical-music main account run by @remlaps) to make recommended listening posts that people have suggested in those channels. The reward payout will then be shared among the contributors. Thanks to @grayarty for the suggestion.

Lastly, the rules of the prize quiz are tweaked a little bit from this week. Check below for the information.

Dsound and Dtube are giving me trouble at the moment, I'm not sure if it is the platforms themselves, or if it is my @$%$^% hotel wifi. The end result is that I can't listen to many performances, so apologies, there are fewer listening recommendations this week.

Listen and Watch

A composition by @danielmonteso leads the listening list, a self composed Soledad.

@grayarty gives us a lovely rendition of a piece by the English lutenist and composer, Daniel Batchelar. Happy belated birthday, Mr Batchelar! Another of our longstanding guitar friends (@guifaquetti) gives us a cute Allegretto by Carcassi, which was an @openmic entry. Go over and support our friends that are doing good work in the competition!

Believe it or not, we do have more instruments coming on board, not just guitars! Looking forward to seeing more music performance posts!

Reading

Thanks to @wilfredn who reminded me of Astor Piazzolla, I hadn't heard his music for such a long time and it was a real treat to hear it again!

@tin-tin gives us some insider information on the secret life of JS Bach. There were a few things I didn't know about, who knew that the great Bach was a knife fighter?

@remlaps gave us the listening recommendations for a Mozart Requiem and one of my favourite violinists playing my favourite concerto.

I hate music programs on the computer, and so I hand write everything! @maria.luisa gives us a trick to transcribing music on Sibelius. I'm sure this will help many people, but I'm sticking to pen and paper!

Shameless self promotion

@bengy
This week I posted a performance that I did a long time ago, it is about a girl who is fending off the unwanted advances of a nobleman. I also had a few posts about artificial acoustic and Shredding.

@musicapoetica
I've not posted any music performances this week as I've been testing out Musicoin as a platform. Also, looking at the possibility of Smartcash as a way of making it viable to post performances on Steemit. However, there were articles on pitch, temperament and the role of the concertmaster

Prize Quiz

Who can name this piece?

RULES (updated):

First correct reply will get 0.5 SBD. However, to get around the google image searches, I also have a second part of the contest. Post your favourite performance of this particular piece, and I will pick a winner (the performance that I also like!) for another prize of 0.5 SBD.

Prize Quiz Winners

Congratulations to @calebleejl (0.1 SBD) and @silviagoh (1 SBD) for winning the bonus prize quiz. It was the first Arebesque by Debussy. Cash is in the interwebs.

There were no takers and no attempts for the main quiz, it was the d'amore soli from the St John Passion by JS Bach.

That is the end of the curation, I am going to bash my head on the computer now. I hate hotel wifi!
