Sydney Taiwan Festival 2017 -

Hi Steemians,

Yesterday the annual Sydney Taiwan Festival was held at Chatswood, Sydney and there were plenty of food, variety stores, games and performances on the main strip of the town. The whole of Chatswood was full of people as the festival was one of the popular ones held in the lower north shore.

There were plenty of stands with some great information promoting tourism in Taiwan and also loads of arts and crafts more related to the Chinese culture. I especially love the store where they were teaching you how to make paper lanterns as it is close the Chinese Moon Festival. When we were young we used to love playing with lanterns during the moon festival but unfortunately, not many people now days follow these traditions as they are considered 'old school' by my friends. There was also a stand promoting puppets, candy blowing and lots more.

There were some great performances on stage but there were just too many people so we didn't stay there for too long.

Another highlight were the games stands. Baby E was a bit too young to play some of the games but it was great to see other people have fun. The games were simple but people had a great time. There were surprisingly a lot of game stores which means the kids can also have fun at the festival.

Lastly, the food stands are always popular at markets. The organisers not only have stores with Taiwanese cuisine, they also included other cuisines like Korean, Japanese and Chinese. The store with the longest line sold Taiwanese meat balls and sausages. The price was very acceptable which is why they were the most popular food stand. There was another store selling Taiwanese food but the prices was way too expensive which was a shame as they had some nice food just a bit pricy.

The family had a great time and it is great to see that more Asian culture is being promoted in Sydney.
