This month we broadened the reach of the @steem-dublin monthly meetup and extended the invitation to members of meetup.com
We also met up in two locations.
Costa
We started the meetup in Costa Coffee where we were joined by Susan, Kevin and Ciaran who are in the process of getting started on Steemit. @demotruk gave Kevin an invite link with steeminvite.com while we were having coffee.
We were also joined by other regulars @deirdyweirdy, @beanz, @mitchhunter, @demotuk, @daithilifereport and myself @eroche
The Duke
We later moved over to the Duke bar where there were some snacks provided by @steem-dublin as well as the usual chat and discussion. There was talk of a trip to Belfast as well as workshops in Dublin to help people get started on Steemit as well as training in some of the tools that people use for posting, voting and engaging with the platform.
@paulag joined us for a drink as well as @maxbullion and @wendika from Belfast.
@steem-dublin
The aim of Steem Dublin is to promote Steemit, and in particular Irish authors and artists who wish to get started on Steemit. We initially have been supporting them with votes and resteems but facilitating a regular meetup gives people the opportunity to chat and discuss with like minded people face to face.
You can read a bit more about us in our introduction post from a few months back
Activity in Ireland
12 people in all attended this meetup, organic growth notable especially because there has been no major headline grabbing Steemit announcements or surge in price recently.
@steem-dublin is currently following 223 people. A diverse array of content is being produced from Ireland; from sand sculptures to drone photography.
There are also authors running competitions and other initiatives;
- @rickyjrx runs a weekly Photography Challenge "#rickysphotochallenge"
- I run a monthly Travel/Culture challenge "#culturevulture".
- @paulag runs a weekly Business Intelligence Challenge. Check out the "#bisteemit" tag for more on this and other posts from the community she has created.
- @woman-onthe-wing runs a regular food challenge, which I warn you will make you hungry so maybe grab a bite before checking out this at "#steemitculinarychallenge"
- Have you checked out @beanz on the weekly @votu podcast?
This is some interesting stuff and just a few examples of how Irish Authors are contributing to Steemit.
Follow @steem-dublin for updates about future meetups in Dublin and for promotion of some great content.
Steemfest
There are already 2 people confirmed going from Ireland to Steemfest in Portugal, @demotruk and me @eroche. @fiveboringgames and @ishtar are possibilities.
