Half of Large British Businesses Hold Stockpiles of Cryptocurrency

Citrix (NASDAQ: CTXS) in partnership with One Poll conducted a new research which surveyed 750 IT decision makers and found that 50% of large UK businesses have stockpiles of cryptocurrency with an average of 24 bitcoins hold by each of 250 employees or more.

For the main reasons for this, 40% plan to pay providers, 32% aim to pay their employees, 27% will use it for smart contracts or other blockchain technologies, 21% as part of fundraising, and 17% for training, R&D or other activities.

The survey also revealed that only 4% of stockpiling cryptocurrencies companies will be using it for a ransomware attack preparation and just 5% have not taken any steps, and those who secure their assets, 52% used specific back-up procedures.

Citrix Chris Mayers commented that very often the security chain weakest link is its people and 18% of businesses responding worried that this may put them in risk of insider theft.


Japan's GMO to Launch BTC, BCH Cloud Mining Service in August

GMO Internet Group has announced the expansion of its cryptocurrency business with a new cloud mining service that will accommodate bitcoin (BTC) and bitcoin cash (BCH) which will be launched in August 2018.

Starting March 1, the company will start accepting priority applications from potential customers who wish to use the new service and will hold information session about it worldwide, including: Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore, Zurich, and Dubai.

Customers of the said service will pay $5 million (or about 550 JPY) per contract directly for a 2 years contract.
The Tokyo-headquartered conglomerate has announced its cryptocurrency mining industry entry during September of last year.

In January, GMO Internet have its breakthrough in developing a 12nm semiconductor for mining and is currently working on a 7nm chip technology.
