South Korean Crypto Exchanges That Participate In Self-Regulation Grow in Numbers

The Korean Blockchain Association in South Korea leads the cryptocurrency self-regulation efforts attended by its 58 out of 66 members.

The participants was among its members which includes the country’s major platforms such as Upbit, Bithumb, Korbit, Coinone, and Coinplug along with Democratic Party member Min Byung-Doo and Free Korean Party member Kim Sung-tae.

In addition, the association chairman Chin Dae-jae said that a self-regulatory committee was established to work with cryptocurrency exchanges and an environment will be created to let investors learn how to use virtual currency.

Furthermore, the association self-regulatory measures will have minimum operating requirements such as the capital base of virtual currency exchanges, employee ethics regulations, and consumer protection.


Russia Needs Blockchain Says President Vladimir Putin

In a video released by Russia Insight, Vladimir Putin and Sberbank President Herman Gref had a discussion during which Putin has noted the need of the country, local banks and regulators to adopt to blockchain technology.

Putin emphasized that it is important that the country cannot be late in the race when it comes to the adoption and development of the revolutionary technology.

Herman Gref who supervises Russia's largest bank has long been having a positive outlook to blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Gref said, “Cryptocurrencies are a natural outcome of blockchain technology. We may ban them, we may welcome them. It is trendy to urge people not to play with them. But they are a fact of our life,” Gref said at a meeting of the Russian entrepreneurs association."
