Oracle To Offer Blockchain Products

According to Bloomberg, the world’s second largest software company, Oracle will be releasing Blockchain-powered products in the next two months.

Thomas Kurian, the President of software development of Oracle said that they will be releasing aplatform-as-a-service this month and a decentralized ledger-based application next month.

Oracle has been busy working with different industries and governments to test and market their Blockchain-base applications used in banking, taxation and supply chains.

HBO TV Series, 'Silicon Valley' Featured The ICO Phenomenon

HBO’s TV series Silicon Valley seems to be doing its part to Usher in ICO to the mainstream with its cryptocurrency themed episode titled “Initial Coin Offering.”

The episode revolves around a fictional company, Pied Piper that wanted to conduct an Initial Coin Offering when its original Series B funding did not materialize.

The episode has accurately portrayed the current state of cryptocurrency market.

This is probably due to the fact that the show consulted a Blockchain consultancy firm for the episode.

Reception from the cryptocurrency community was generally good with most cryptocurrency enthusiast saying that the episode did justice to the market and great exposure.

Fed Researchers Blames Futures Offering Is To Blame For Bitcoin Price Crash

U.S Federal Reserve Bank Researchers in San Francisco divison blames the opening of Bitcoin Futures on several marketplaces in the U.S. on the last month of last year is partly to blame to the subsequence market crash.

Three Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and a professor from Stanford University was part of the research paper.

They liken it to the housing bubble that happened during the year 2000s.

This trend is characterized when a demand for a financial instrument is driven by bullish sentiments until such point that it loses steam and bear sentiments sets in where in the bears can invest reversely.

The researchers also noted that such trend might now continue indefinitely as supply for bitcoin is finite and demand will continue to increase which thus diminishes the speculative dynamics of the said cryptocurrency.

Japan Financial Services Implement Strict New Standards To Prevent Crypto Theft

The Japanese government has been hard at work trying to implement measures to protect cryptocurrency investors in the country, following two major cryptocurrency related events, CoinCheck Hack and Mt.Gox exchange collapse.

That having said cryptocurrency exchanges that seeks to operate in Japan will need to register with the

Japanese government via its Financial Services Authority and adhere to its five-point framework.

Existing and new cryptocurrency exchanges will need to comply with the said new framework to be allowed to operate within Japanese territories or run the risk of being shut down or rejected issuance of license to operate.

South Korea Easing Cryptocurrency Regulations

The new Governor of the Korean Supervisory Service (FSS), Yoon Suk-huen believes that clear regulations will be good for cryptocurrency in South Korea.

He expressed that a greater clarity in regulations will help stability in the industry which will foster a healthier atmosphere for it to grow and prosper as it will enable it to create more services and products that will be safe and secure for both the market and its investors, thus allowing it for greater and faster expansion.

Earlier regulators have banned the issuance of ICO in the country and have also banned creating anonymous accounts in exchanges as well as participation of minors.

There is through an ongoing effort by some law makers to reverse the ban of ICO and allow such activity upon meeting certain conditions.
