I am a bit late today, such a hectic morning it has been. These days our little bakery project gets all the attention and the green smoothie had to wait :( Finally, I have a few minutes for myself to whip up a delicious green drink and provide you guys with another good-for-you recipe.
It's been more than 5 years now we started our smoothie adventure, gosh time flies, and we are still loving every sip of them. It even feels weird if we skip a day. In the past, I even used to take a small blender on holidays... Crazy I know, so we had to give up on taking it to be able to travel light.
SPICY MANGO CASHEW MID-MORNING KICK
Let's talk spicy mango! Though it might sound strange to you to add some chili to your morning drink, we absolutely loved to extra kick. Such a great flavor combination. Perfect wake-up call after a hectic morning.
Unfortunately, mango season in our garden is slowly coming to an end. We had so many and we gave so much away. Gonna miss this little treats straight from the tree. Luckily we have some tucked away in the freezer!
INGREDIENTS (serves 2 FOR BREAKFAST)
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- 1.5-2 cups water
- 2 cups mango, I froze mine to chill the smoothie and add extra creaminess
- 1 orange, peeled and seed removed
- 2 passion fruit
- Freshly grated ginger to taste
- 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked for at least 4 hours overnight is best
- Thai chili (I removed the seeds for less heat) or chili flakes to taste
- Water as needed
DIRECTIONS
- Blend spinach and water until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again. If you have a high-speed blender you can throw everything in at once.
- Optional: Top with superfoods such as hemp hearts if you like.
